Although you can create a bootable USB to install Windows 10 using a variety of tools, including the Media Creation Tool and Rufus<\/a>, it is also possible to use the DiskPart<\/strong> command-line tool to create a flash drive to clean install Windows 10<\/a> from Command Prompt.<\/p>\n

In this guide<\/a>, you will learn the steps to use Command Prompt to create a USB bootable media to install Windows 10. Also, before proceeding, you will need to connect a USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space to your computer and the ISO file of Windows 10, which you can download with these steps<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Create USB bootable media to install Windows 10<\/h2>\n

To create a USB flash drive to install Windows 10, use these steps:<\/p>\n

    Open Start<\/strong> on Windows 10.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Search for Command Prompt<\/strong>, right-click the top result, and select the Run as Administrator <\/strong>option.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Type the following command to open DiskPart and press Enter<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

    Type the following command to determine the USB flash drive and press Enter<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
    list disk<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n

    Type the following command to select the storage and press Enter<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
    select disk 1<\/pre>\n
    Quick tip:<\/strong> The\u00a0select disk 1<\/code> command as an example, but you have to replace “1”<\/strong> with the number of the flash drive you want to use.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    Type the following commands to delete everything from the USB thumb drive and press Enter<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

    Quick tip: <\/strong>If you’re creating a bootable media for a device that uses UEFI, you’ll need to format the drive using the “FAT32” <\/strong>file system, instead of “NTFS”<\/strong> with the format fs=FAT32 quick<\/code> command.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
