In previous versions, the operating system included the ability to automatically create a copy of the entire Registry inside the <strong>&#8220;RegBack&#8221;<\/strong> system folder. However, to help reduce storage usage, Microsoft removed this functionality with the release of the <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/windows-10-redstone-4-version-1803-new-features\/\">April 2018 Update<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a result, if you want to <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/restore-registry-backup-windows-10\/\">recover the system after a corrupt registry hive<\/a>, you will quickly find that inside the <code>C:\\Windows\\System32\\config\\RegBack<\/code> folder, each registry hive was <strong>0kb<\/strong> in size. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/windows-10\/\">Windows 10<\/a> (as well as Windows 11) includes a registry key that allows you to enable automatic backups again for the entire Registry. The only caveat is that configuring the Registry key isn&#8217;t enough. You must also\u00a0create a secondary task to run the original <strong>&#8220;RegIdlebackup&#8221;<\/strong> task on a specific schedule. Otherwise, this feature won&#8217;t work automatically.<\/p>\n<p>In this <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/how-to\/\">guide<\/a>, I&#8217;ll explain the steps to enable the functionality to automatically create daily Registry backups on your computer running Windows 11 or 10.<\/p>\n<div id=\"tip-box-red\" ><span><strong>Warning:<\/strong> Modifying system files can further damage your Windows installation if it&#8217;s not done correctly. It&#8217;s assumed that you know what you&#8217;re doing and have previously created a <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/create-windows-10-system-image-backup\/\">full backup of your computer<\/a>. Use these instructions to <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/backup-windows-11-external-usb-drive\/\">create a backup of Windows 11<\/a>. folder.<\/p>\n<p>Although it&#8217;s possible to modify the &#8220;RegIdleBackup&#8221; task, it will not work.
