Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 10 build 20241 for PCs enrolled in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program. This is the preview number 44<\/a> available to testers, and it introduces some new features and improvements.<\/p>\n

Windows 10 build 20241<\/strong>, according to the company, introduces a new splash screen for Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps that uses the system color mode. This means that opening a modern app will now show a light or dark splash screen as it launches, instead of the color scheme you may choose from the Colors settings page. (Some of the apps that support this behavior right now, include Settings, Windows Security, and Calculator.)<\/p>\n

In addition, build 20241 is refreshing the “Optimize Drives” page (defrag). For example, the page now adds an \u201cAdvanced View\u201d option to list all partitions, including hidden partitions. You can use the “F5” key to refresh the screen, and there are more details under the \u201cCurrent status\u201d column when it\u2019s not possible to defrag the partition, including \u201cPartition type not supported\u201d and \u201cFile system type not supported.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, this preview of Windows 10<\/a> removes the Japanese Address and Rinna candidate suggestion services from the Japanese IME, and the Narrator can now read aloud high priority notifications when they appear in the Lock screen and when you sign back into your account.<\/p>\n

The preview is available immediately through the Dev Channel, and it will install automatically, but you can always force it from Settings\u00a0<\/strong>>\u00a0Update & security<\/strong>\u00a0>\u00a0Windows Update<\/strong>, and clicking the\u00a0Check for updates<\/strong> button.\u00a0<\/p>\n
