page, you will also find the <strong>&#8220;Event logs&#8221;<\/strong> section with an option to open the Event Viewer, where you can check errors and other events generated by File History.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to include files from OneDrive, you must configure them to be available without an internet connection. You can do this by selecting and right-clicking the files and folders and choosing the <strong>&#8220;Always keep on this device&#8221;<\/strong> option. I have tried modifying the <strong>&#8220;Config1.xml&#8221;<\/strong> file (available on <code>%UserProfile%\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Windows\\FileHistory\\Configuration<\/code>) to include additional folder locations manually, but the feature kept resetting the configuration to the default settings. For example, the\u00a0feature is perfect for restoring one or a group of files after accidental deletion or modification. However, the feature is not meant to recover all of your files after performing a <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/clean-install-windows-11\/\">clean installation of Windows 11<\/a> or restoring all of your files since you will have problems reconfiguring the feature. If you manage to make the feature work, restoration could take a long time if you have a lot of files.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to back up and restore all your files, you will have to <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/backup-windows-11-external-usb-drive\/\">create a full backup<\/a> of the entire computer or <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/create-automatic-file-backup-windows-11\/#backup_files_windowsbackup_windows10\">file backup<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Although you can still use File History to create automated file backups, on Windows 11, Microsoft is no longer exposing the feature through the Settings app because it wants you to subscribe to <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/onedrive\">OneDrive<\/a> to keep the files backed up in the cloud.
