This feature isn&#8217;t specific to Windows 11 since <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/guide\/iphone\/use-passkeys-to-sign-in-to-apps-and-websites-iphf538ea8d0\/ios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apple<\/a> and many other platforms also support this standard, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/account\/about\/passkeys\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/help.twitter.com\/en\/managing-your-account\/how-to-use-passkey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X<\/a> (formerly Twitter), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebay.com\/help\/account\/protecting-account\/tips-keeping-ebay-account-secure?id=4872\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eBay<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/help\/customer\/display.html?nodeId=TPphmhSWBgcI9Ak87p\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/faq.whatsapp.com\/1850567238795036\/?cms_platform=android\">WhatsApp<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/help\/linkedin\/answer\/a1621596\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paypal.com\/us\/cshelp\/article\/what-is-a-passkey-and-how-do-i-use-it-to-log-in-to-my-paypal-account-help997\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PayPal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A passkey is technically a\u00a0token you can create on your website account and download on <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/windows-11\">Windows 11<\/a> (in this case) using Windows Hello. The next time you have to access the website, instead of using the password, you can use your Windows Hello PIN, <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/enable-windows-hello-fingerprint-windows-11\/\">Fingerprint<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/setup-windows-hello-facial-recognition-windows-11\/\">Face to sign in<\/a> with the passkey. This approach makes your account more secure since the password is not part of the process, making it harder for hackers to compromise your credentials. The next time you want to access the service (or app), you can use Windows Hello authentication to complete the sign-in process instead of using the service password.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to note that some services may prompt you to create a passkey as you sign in to your account. If you accept, the process will also be slightly different and may take fewer clicks.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly enough, you can create a passkey for a <a href=\"https:\/\/account.live.com\/proofs\/Manage\/additional\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft account<\/a> using the <strong>&#8220;Add a new way to sign in or verify&#8221;<\/strong> and choosing the <strong>&#8220;Face fingerprint, PIN, or security key&#8221;<\/strong> option, but you won&#8217;t be able to use Windows 11 to create and save the passkey. Instead, the service will prompt you to use your iPhone, iPad, Android device, or security key.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"signin_passkey_windows11\">Sign in using passkey on Windows 11<\/h2>\n<p>To use a passkey
