{"id":168850,"date":"2024-05-21T07:35:47","date_gmt":"2024-05-21T11:35:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/?p=168850"},"modified":"2024-11-26T07:15:20","modified_gmt":"2024-11-26T12:15:20","slug":"enable-recall-windows-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/enable-recall-windows-11\/","title":{"rendered":"How to enable Recall (AI timeline) on Windows 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul class=\"sum\">\n<li>To enable Recall on Windows 11, open <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Privacy &amp; security<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Recall &amp; snapshots<\/strong> and turn on <strong>&#8220;Save snapshots.&#8221;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UPDATED 11\/26\/2024:<\/strong> On <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/windows-11-24h2-new-features\">Windows 11 24H2<\/a>, Recall comes enabled by default on compatible devices, but if the feature isn&#8217;t available in the Taskbar, you can turn it on manually, and in this guide, I will show you how to complete this task.<\/p>\n<h2>What is Recall?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/what-is-recall-windows-11-ai-timeline-explained\/\"><strong>Windows Recall<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is an AI feature that works like photographic memory. It records everything you have done on your computer through snapshots and turns the data into searchable moments that you can search using natural language. You can also use the Timeline option to scroll back to a specific time to find a particular activity, such as a website, conversation, application, etc.<\/p>\n<h2>What are Recall requirements?<\/h2>\n<p>If you want to enable Recall, the computer must be running Windows 11 24H2 (or a higher release) and meet the hardware requirements to be a Copilot Plus PC, which includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CPU:<\/strong> Snapdragon X or equivalent processor.<\/li>\n<li><strong>NPU:<\/strong> Neural Processing Unit with 40 TOPS (Tera Operations per Second).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Memory:<\/strong> 16GB (minimum).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Storage:<\/strong> 256GB of SSD (minimum).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As part of the supported processors, some AMD and Intel processors, such as the AMD Ryzen AI 300 (up to 50 TOPS) and Intel Core Ultra 200v series (up to 120 TOPS), will support Recall. However, during the early days of the development, Microsoft is limiting the AI feature to the Snapdragon processors.<\/p>\n<p>Also, before you can turn on Windows Recall, the device must have <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/check-enable-tpm-secure-boot-install-windows-11\/\">Secure Boot<\/a> enabled in the firmware as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/enable-bitlocker-windows-11\/\">BitLocker<\/a> (or <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/enable-bitlocker-device-encryption-windows-11-home\/\">Device Encryption<\/a>). Also, Windows Hello Face, <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/enable-windows-hello-fingerprint-windows-11\/\">Fingerprint<\/a>, or PIN has to be configured before you can opt-in to enable the photographic memory feature.<\/p>\n<p>In this <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/how-to\">guide<\/a>, I will teach you the steps to enable the Recall feature on Windows 11 24H2 or higher releases.<\/p>\n<h2>Enable Recall on Windows 11<\/h2>\n<p>To enable the Recall feature on Windows 11, use these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Open <strong>Settings<\/strong> on Windows 11.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click on <strong>Privacy &amp;
