However, you can still turn this off if you prefer another backup solution or are not comfortable uploading your files to the cloud.<\/p>\n<p>While it&#8217;s always a good practice to have a <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/create-automatic-file-backup-windows-11\/\">backup of your files<\/a>, the choice of which application or service to use should be entirely up to the user. However, it seems that Microsoft is now making this decision for users, which might not align with everyone&#8217;s preferences.<\/p>\n<p>I noticed this when recording the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bq_af3Sk_WU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clean installation process for Windows 11 24H2<\/a>, and the out-of-the-box experience (OOBE) seemed more simplified without a prompt to choose the backup settings with OneDrive, and then I found that the app was already syncing my Desktop, Pictures, Documents, Music, and Videos folders to the cloud. However, I wasn&#8217;t the only one, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Windows11\/comments\/1dnr3p7\/windows_11_is_now_automatically_enabling_onedrive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">many users took to Reddit<\/a> to complain about the same problem.<\/p>\n<p>If you prefer not to use <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/onedrive\">OneDrive<\/a> to back up 11<\/h2>\n<p>To disable OneDrive Folder backup, use these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Right-click the <strong>OneDrive<\/strong> icon in the Taskbar and click on Settings.<\/p>\n<p><img and upload files manually, but the operating system won&#8217;t upload files from known folders such as Desktop, Pictures, Documents, Music, and Videos.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"uninstall_onedrive\">Uninstall OneDrive from Windows 11<\/h2>\n<p>To uninstall OneDrive from Windows 11, use these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Open <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click on <strong>Apps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click the <strong>Installed apps<\/strong> page.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click the three-dot button next to the &#8220;Microsoft OneDrive&#8221; app.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Choose the <strong>Uninstall<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-165567\" from your computer, and the app will be completely removed from the system.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to note that neither of these methods will delete the files and folders that were already uploaded to the cloud.
