However, starting with the release of build 22635.3930, Windows 11 includes an option that makes it easier to display a shorter version of the date and time in the System Tray.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to change the format of the clock area in the Taskbar, you can use the &#8220;Date &amp; time&#8221; or &#8220;Region&#8221; settings from the Control Panel on Windows 11.<\/p>\n<p>In this <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/how-to\">guide<\/a>, I will explain how to enable the abbreviated format for time and date from the Settings app and Control Panel.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"toc\">\n<li><a href=\"#enable_shorter_clock_settings\">Show shorter time and date format in Taskbar from Settings<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#enable_shorter_clock_controlpanel\">Show shorter time and date format in Taskbar from Control Panel<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"enable_shorter_clock_settings\">Show shorter time and date format in Taskbar from Settings<\/h2>\n<p>If you cannot find the option, it&#8217;s because, after negative feedback from users, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/brandonleblanc\/status\/1943835156688908455\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft has decided<\/a> not to work on this feature, and it has now been removed from the operating system.<\/p>\n<p>To display shorter time and date format in the Taskbar on <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/windows-11-22635-3930-26252-new-features\/\">Windows 11 build 22635.3930<\/a> and higher releases, use these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Open <strong>Settings<\/strong> on Windows 11.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click on <strong>Time &amp; language<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click the <strong>Date &amp; time<\/strong> page.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click the <strong>&#8220;Show time and date in the System tray&#8221;<\/strong> setting.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-170471\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pureinfotech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/show-abbreviated-time-date.webp?resize=827%2C483&#038;quality=78&#038;strip=all&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Show time and date in the System tray\" width=\"827\" height=\"483\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pureinfotech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/show-abbreviated-time-date.webp?w=956&amp;quality=78&amp;strip=all&amp;ssl=1 956w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pureinfotech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/show-abbreviated-time-date.webp?resize=300%2C175&amp;quality=78&amp;strip=all&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pureinfotech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/show-abbreviated-time-date.webp?resize=150%2C88&amp;quality=78&amp;strip=all&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 827px) 100vw, 827px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Check the <strong>&#8220;Show abbreviated time and date&#8221;<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once you complete the steps, the System Tray will display hours and minutes without the AM or PM annotation, and the date will appear as month and day (in the United States) without the year part.<\/p>\n<p>This option was supposed to be available for all users already, but it appeared that Microsoft decided to delay it even further.\u00a0If the option isn&#8217;t available and you want to shorten the format, you can use the Control Panel.
