Then, start the setup and continue with the on-screen directions like the regular process.<\/li>\n<li>Alternatively, you can mount the Windows 11 24H2 ISO on File Explorer and run the <code>setup.exe \/product server<\/code> command to launch the upgrade process, bypassing the requirements.<\/li>\n<li>You can also perform an in-place upgrade with a USB installation media created with Rufus, but it will also require you to modify the Registry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UPDATED 10\/7\/2024: <\/strong>If you already have a computer with unsupported hardware running <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/windows-11-23h2-new-features\/\">Windows 11 23H2<\/a> or 22H2, it&#8217;s possible to upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 in at least two ways using the clean installation approach or in-place upgrade process. In this guide, I will explain these two methods. If you have a device running Windows 10, I only recommend the clean installation method, not the in-place upgrade.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/windows-11-24h2-new-features\">Windows 11 24H2 (2024 Update)<\/a> is the next major refresh of the operating system available for compatible computers starting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/windows-11-24h2-release-date-2024\/\">October 1, 2024<\/a>, but since there are a lot of devices running <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/windows-11\">Windows 11<\/a> on hardware that doesn&#8217;t meet the requirements, the feature update won&#8217;t be available through the &#8220;Windows Update&#8221; settings, nor users will be able to use the &#8220;Installation Assistant&#8221; tool or the standard USB bootable media created using the Media Creation Tool.<\/p>\n<p>However, it&#8217;s still possible to upgrade by wiping out the hard drive and setting up a fresh copy of the Windows 11 2024 Update, or you can upgrade your existing setup to version 24H2 through an in-place upgrade. Windows 11 24H2 unsupported PC upgrade process<\/h3>\n<p>If your computer is already running Windows 11 but wants to upgrade to version 24H2 without going through the clean installation process, you can launch the setup with a special command to bypass the requirements to launch an in-place upgrade on unsupported hardware.<\/p>\n<p>To upgrade a computer that doesn&#8217;t meet the Windows 11 24H2 requirements, use these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Open <strong>File Explorer<\/strong> (Windows key + E).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Open the Windows 11 24H2 ISO file location.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Right-click the ISO file, select the <strong>Open with<\/strong> submenu, and choose the <strong>Windows Explorer<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Confirm the letter for the drive with the installation files.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Open <strong>Start<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Search for <strong>Command Prompt<\/strong>, right-click the top result, and choose the <strong>Run as administrator<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Type the following command to open the location with the installation files and press the Out-of-box Experience (OOBE), and your files and apps will be kept. However, the new setup will run in an unsupported state, meaning that you may be able to download system updates, but they won&#8217;t be guaranteed to work, and Microsoft won&#8217;t offer support.<\/p>\n<p>While this command works to upgrade an older version of Windows 11 to version 24H2, it&#8217;s important to mention that there will be times when it may not work, and you may end up with a message about the setup not being able to determine if your computer is compatible. (The <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/pbatard\/rufus\/issues\/2568#issuecomment-2395195141\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">developer is aware of this issue<\/a>, and these commands will run automatically in future releases of the Rufus tool.)<\/p>\n<div id=\"tip-box\"><span><strong>Warning:<\/strong> Before proceeding, it&#8217;s crucial to acknowledge the risks associated with modifying the Windows Registry. Incorrect changes can lead to system instability or operational issues. Therefore, ensure you have a <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/backup-windows-11-external-usb-drive\">full system backup<\/a> before making any changes. The <strong>&#8220;\/f&#8221;<\/strong> switch forces the deletion, and <strong>&#8220;2&gt;NUL&#8221;<\/strong> suppresses any error output.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the <strong>&#8220;HwReqChk&#8221;<\/strong> value is being added as a multi-string (<strong>&#8220;REG_MULTI_SZ&#8221;<\/strong>) with specific hardware requirement checks.
