Then, simply click on <strong>&#8220;Launch&#8221;<\/strong> or run the desktop shortcut.<\/li>\n<li>The feature is available starting with PowerToys version 0.84.0 and higher releases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UPDATED 9\/17\/2024: <\/strong>On <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/windows-11\">Windows 11<\/a> (and 10), you can use PowerToys&#8217; Workspaces to launch and automatically arrange a group of apps on your desktop, and in this guide, I will explain how to use this feature.<\/p>\n<p>As part of my work setup, I have a system with multiple monitors where I usually arrange the same group of apps. Instead of using the default layouts to organize my apps on the desktop, I use <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/create-custom-snap-layouts-windows-11\/\">the &#8220;FanceZones&#8221; feature available in PowerToys to create custom layouts<\/a>. However, even then, when I <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/restart-windows-11\/\">restart the computer<\/a>, it takes a long time to relaunch and arrange my apps on the screen, but this is when &#8220;Workspaces&#8221; comes in handy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Workspaces&#8221; is a feature available in <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/PowerToys\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PowerToys (version 0.84.0)<\/a> that allows you to create and save custom layouts to launch a group of apps and automatically arrange them on the screen &#8220;quickly&#8221; with just &#8220;one click,&#8221; whether you have one, two, three, or more monitors.<\/p>\n<p>In this <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/how-to\">guide<\/a>, I&#8217;ll explain how to create workspaces with PowerToys to launch and automatically arrange apps on your desktop running Windows 11 (or <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/windows-10\">Windows 10<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h2>Create a workspace to launch and arrange apps automatically<\/h2>\n<p>To launch and arrange apps automatically on Windows 11 (or 10) (<a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/install-powertoys-windows\/\">install PowerToys<\/a>), use these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Open <strong>PowerToys<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click on <strong>Windowing &amp; For example, in my layout, I have Notepad, and I can specify the path to the file I want to open with this layout.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>(Optional) Check the option to launch the app. For example, you can use the <strong>&#8220;Launch as Admin&#8221;<\/strong> option to <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/run-app-administrator-windows\/\">start the Windows Terminal as admin<\/a>. You only need to repeat the steps and make sure to confirm a descriptive name for the layout.<\/p>\n    <div class=\"responsive-youtube-container\">\n        <iframe\n            src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/f8LotrAyg4Q?rel=0&showinfo=0\"\n            frameborder=\"0\"\n            allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\"\n            allowfullscreen\n            loading=\"lazy\"\n        ><\/iframe>\n    <\/div>\n<p>The only caveat I have found with this PowerToys feature is that you can only launch the workspace once. If you rerun the same workspace, the feature will try to open the apps again, creating multiple instances of the same application.<\/p>\n<p>Also, if you choose to start some apps minimized, some apps will ignore this option.
