Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 11 build 22635.5160 in the Beta Channel as the update KB5053654 as part of the version 23H2<\/strong> development. In this release<\/a>, Microsoft is introducing a dedicated FAQs section in the Settings app, a speech recap feature for Windows Narrator, and updating the Windows Share interface with a new option to edit images without opening another application.<\/p>\n

In addition, this update brings fixes for how apps are displayed in the Start menu and Taskbar. Also, this update comes with some known issues for the Start menu, Widgets, and Windows Narrator.<\/p>\n

It’s important not to confuse the update KB5053654 for Windows 11 23H2 with the update KB5053658 (build 26120.3653)<\/a>, which is another release in the Beta Channel, but it belongs to version 24H2.<\/p>\n

Windows 11 build 22635.5160 (Beta)<\/h2>\n

These are the new features and improvements currently being tested for devices enrolled in the Beta Channel.<\/p>\n

New Windows Narrator speech recap<\/h3>\n

Starting with build 22635.5160, Microsoft is adding the Speech Recap feature, which allows you to keep track of the spoken words from Windows Narrator for quick reference.<\/p>\n

You can access the feature using the “Narrator key + Alt + X”<\/strong> keyboard shortcut. On the page, you will find the last 500 strings produced by the feature. However, the system will delete the saved text every time the Windows Narrator starts.<\/p>\n

If you want to copy the strings directly into the clipboard without opening the experience, you can use the “Narrator key + Control + X”<\/strong> keyboard shortcut.<\/p>\n

Copilot AI<\/h3>\n

The company is also bringing back the “Windows key + C”<\/strong> keyboard shortcut to launch the Copilot chatbot. You can always change the shortcut using the “Customize Copilot key on keyboard”<\/a> setting.<\/p>\n

This preview also rolls out the updated version of the Copilot app that adds the press-to-talk functionality using the “Alt + Spacebar”<\/a> keyboard shortcut.<\/p>\n

In addition, developers can get the exact trigger for the press to talk on their apps using Handle Microsoft Copilot hardware key state changes.<\/p>\n

FAQs section in Settings<\/h3>\n

Furthermore, the “About” page in the Settings app, under “Device specifications,” now includes a “Frequently Asked Questions”<\/strong> section, providing users with additional information about their operating system and hardware regarding compatibility, performance, and more.<\/p>\n

If the “About” page doesn’t include the FAQs section, you may be able to enable it manually using the ViveTool<\/a>. To activate it, run the command vivetool \/enable \/id:55305888<\/code>.<\/p>\n

Windows Share new features<\/h3>\n

As part of the file-sharing feature, the Windows Share interface will show a preview of the content.<\/p>\n

Also, the team is adding an “Edit”<\/strong> button to make edits (such as cropping, rotating, and applying filters) to an image before sharing.<\/p>\n

You’ll also notice the\u00a0<\/span>“Compress”<\/strong> option in the screenshot, but that option may be added in<\/span>\u00a0a later update.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The edition feature is only available for local images and only for these formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .dib, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .bmp.<\/p>\n

Other fixes and improvements<\/h3>\n

The Windows 11 update KB5053654 also includes fixes for the desktop and Start menu.<\/p>\n
