However, the Settings app includes an option to select the preferred graphics card for legacy and Microsoft Store apps, which can improve system performance or <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/battery-saver-windows-10\/\">battery life on your laptop<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In this <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/tag\/how-to\/\">guide<\/a>, I will outline the steps to set the GPU that an app uses on your Windows 10 laptop or desktop with multiple graphics processors.<\/p>\n<h2>Choose the preferred GPU for apps on Windows 10<\/h2>\n<p>To force an app to use a discrete GPU instead of the integrated adapter, use these steps:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Open <strong>Settings <\/strong>on Windows 10.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click on <strong>System<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click on <strong>Display<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Under the &#8220;Multiple displays&#8221; This means that if you change the settings and the app continues to use a different GPU, you may need to change the preferences in the app itself (if applicable).<\/p>\n<p>If you have a computer with an integrated and a discrete graphics card, you cannot set either of the other cards as the system default. globally. You can only change the default GPU for each application in the Settings app and from the applications themselves.<\/p>\n<p>However, if you want to make the discrete card the default, ensure the monitor&#8217;s signal cable is connected to the card you intend to use.
