This new update delivers a new set of features and enhancements around productivity, security, and performance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Windows 10 version 1809 release date:<\/strong>\u00a0Microsoft kicked off the Redstone 5 (RS5) development with <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/windows-10-build-17604\/\">Windows 10 build 17604<\/a> in the Skip Ahead lane, and it originally released on October 2, 2018. However, as a result of data-loss and other problems the company was forced to pause the rollout. Starting on November 13, 2018, the company has confirmed that the problems have been fixed, and it&#8217;s now available for download automatically or manually.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Getting the Windows 10 version 1809:<\/strong>\u00a0If your device is compatible, the new version will automatically download through Windows Update starting November 13. Although the company is fixing a number of issues, including problems with Task Manager, driver compatibility, and conflicts with third-party antivirus solution, it&#8217;s unclear when the October 2018 Update will re-release again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update October 9, 2018:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/pureinfotech.com\/windows-10-1809-17763-17-data-loss-fix\/\">Microsoft confirms<\/a> that the missing files after the upgrade problem has been fixed, but it&#8217;ll be testing the patch with participants of Windows Insider Program before re-releasing the October 2018 Update to the public. However, now there&#8217;s a new experience that you can open using the\u00a0<strong>Windows key + V<\/strong>\u00a0keyboard shortcut that allows you to see your clipboard history. more familiar to screen reader users.<\/p>\n<p>Narrator will now automatically read the contents of a dialog box when brought to the foreground. For example, if you try to close a document in Word with unsaved changes, Narrator will speak the title \u201cMicrosoft Word,\u201d the focus \u201cSave button\u201d and the static text within the dialog.<\/p>\n<p>You now have the ability to search for text using the new\u00a0<strong>Find<\/strong>\u00a0feature. If the text is found Narrator will move to the found item.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Narrator now can present a list of links, headings, or landmarks present in the application or content. (You are also able to filter the results by typing in the list or the text field of the window.)<\/p>\n<p>Along with being able to select content when using scan mode with the <strong>Shift-selection<\/strong> commands in Microsoft Edge, Word, Outlook, Mail and most text surfaces, it\u2019s now possible to select a block of data by first moving to one end of the block and pressing\u00a0<strong>F9<\/strong>, moving to the other end of the block and pressing\u00a0<strong>F10<\/strong>. Once\u00a0<strong>F10<\/strong>\u00a0is pressed the entire contents between the two points will be selected.<\/p>\n<p>While in scan mode, you can now press the <strong>Up<\/strong> and <strong>Down<\/strong> arrow keys to read different parts of the page. Starting with this new version, the press of a <strong>Down<\/strong> arrow in Scan Mode will stop on interactive elements to make them easier to use. For example, if you are reading a paragraph with multiple links, Narrator will stop on these links when you press the Down arrow.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes for scan mode include, the keystroke to <strong>move to beginning of text<\/strong> has changed to\u00a0<strong>Narrator + B\u00a0<\/strong>(was Narrator + Control + B), <strong>move to end of text<\/strong> has changed to\u00a0<strong>Narrator + E<\/strong>\u00a0(was Narrator + Control + E).<\/p>\n<p>The keystroke to provide feedback has changed as well, and now the new keystroke is\u00a0<strong>Narrator + Alt + F<\/strong>. In addition, you\u2019ll find new Group Policies and MDM settings to prevent certificate error overrides, configure the Home button and startup options, set the New Tab page and Home button URL, and managing extensions.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-edge\/webdriver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WebDriver<\/a>\u00a0has been added as Feature on Demand (FoD) to make it easier for developers to install the right version. You can install the packages by turning on <strong>Developer Mode<\/strong>, or by going to\u00a0<strong>Settings<\/strong>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<strong>Apps<\/strong>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<strong>Apps &amp; features<\/strong>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<strong>Manage optional features<\/strong>\u00a0and installing it manually. Also, Microsoft Edge no longer supports XSS filter, there&#8217;s support for same-site cookies, and you can now copy certificate details of a website to the clipboard.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"new_windowsecurity_windows10\">What&#8217;s new on Windows Security<\/h2>\n<p>Starting with Windows 10 version 1809, the &#8220;Windows Defender Security Center&#8221; app gets renamed to <strong>Windows Security<\/strong>. But the name is not the only thing new that you&#8217;ll find in this new version. You can set the window size to be your preferences, and it even\u00a0<span class=\"vm-hook-outer\"><span class=\"vm-hook\">supports<\/span><\/span>\u00a0multiple windows.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the new features includes the ability to quickly snip and share a screenshot using the\u00a0<strong>Windows key + Shift + S<\/strong>, which now brings the snipping toolbar with all the basic tools you need.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re using a tablet with pen support, you get even more features. In the \u201cPen &amp; Windows Ink\u201d settings page, you\u2019ll find that\u00a0<strong>Screen Snipping<\/strong>\u00a0is now an option for single click.
